OJK says RI banking industry has future

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) said that the Indonesian banking industry was showing much more potential in comparison to its Southeast Asian neighbors.
Based on OJK data, as of Dec. 31, 2013, Indonesian banks had a net interest margin of 4.89 percent, as reported by tribunnews.com.
In comparison, the net interest margin in the Philippines stood at 3.3 percent, 2.6 percent in Thailand, 2.3 percent in Malaysia and 1.3 percent in Singapore.
"This shows that we have far better prospects than our neighboring countries," Slamet Edy Poernomo, the OJK's banking supervision director, said in Jakarta on Friday.
Slamet emphasized that Indonesians should anticipate the expected increase in the number of foreign banks in the country following the launch of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
"The OJK has prepared a 2014 Indonesian Banking Masterplan in preparation for the AEC in order to enhance our banks' competitiveness," he said.
Other efforts include educating the public about the importance of consumer protection. (fss)
"I think this is a fresh angina for investors who will or already has share in Indonesia. But it must be so maintained, dikarenkan free trade (APEC) in 2015 which started a huge impact on the growth of the State economy. If the government can not afford to control Indonesia and could face huge losses."

Spirit of the Entrepreneur

You hear it all the time from famous entrepreneurs: Long before they were running multimillion-dollar companies, they were flexing their entrepreneurial skills by selling lemonade on the corner, building gadgets in their garage or hosting weekly college beer pong tournaments. It seems that behind every successful mogul is a kid who grew up knowing they were born for business.
But what exactly is it that sets entrepreneurs apart from the rest? What is it that makes certain people believe in themselves enough to take the prospect of failure head-on and have the determination to come out on top? It takes a special kind of person to set an idea in motion, riding the highs and lows from humble beginnings to ultimate success.
The entrepreneurial spirit is a gift that inspires others to become the best they can be. From passion and positivity to leadership and ambition, here are the entrepreneurs that best define the entrepreneurial spirit.

"In my opinion, an entrepreneur must have passion, leadership skills, strong ambition and willpower. If all of these things already owned, a person can start to become entrepreneurs. And become entrepreneurs so starting from what we like, because it makes all that we do not make a very pleasant and unencumbered."

This Year, Rupiah Is Predicted Will Be Number 1 In Asia

Some analysts of the most accurate version of Bloomberg predicted that Rupiah will rise from the worst position to be the number one among other Asian currencies this year.
According to Lloyds Banking Group Plc, the rupiah will strengthen by 6.8 percent in 2014 to a level of 11,400 per U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA will see the rupiah was at 10,250 at the end of next year. In comparison, the median of 23 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg predict the rupiah will be at the level of 12,200 per U.S. dollar.
Among the 10 countries of Asia, only China can beat Indonesian growth.
There are several factors that will allegedly keep the Rupiah. One of them, a steady growth of the Indonesian economy and the reduce of trade deficit. Two factors are again the main attraction for foreign funds to re-invest in Indonesia.
“We predict the current value of the rupiah is below as it should be (undervalued) considered the dynamic growth in Indonesia,” said Jeavon Lolay, Global Research Director of Lloyds .
He added that the Indonesian economy will move in line with the positive growth in the global economy, which in turn will help to restore the level of exports in the next second quarter.
As a record, Indonesia’s currency has gained 0.7 percent this month to 12,085 per U.S. dollar. This is the best reinforcement among 11 Asian most frequently currencies traded.

"In my opinion, the rupiah was very good news. Due to the increasing number of foreign investors who want to invest in Indonesian shares. Rupiah in the eyes of the world are still less desirable, if the future Indonesian rupiah always changes very well. Will also result in good growth for the economy in the country."

The Foods and Beverages Merchants in Jabodetabek Lost Their Income Until Rp 200 billion

Bad weather that hit several regions in Indonesia is large enough to impact the food and beverage industry in this country. For only the Jabodetabek area, the floods predicted suppress the turnover to 25 percent.
Chairman of the Food and Beverage Association of Indonesia (Gapmmi) Adhi Lukman explained, a decrease of revenue is due to the difficulty of the distribution of products from the factory to the market because of the flooding block. Thus, it spreads on the decline in consumption.
As an overall result, Adhi estimated the food and beverage industry in Jabodetabek lost the income until Rp 200 billion per day. “In the normal situation, the income in each day for this region reached USD 800 billion,” he said on Tuesday (01/21/2014).
It is not only the distribution to the consumer, food and beverage manufacturers must also bear the losses due to the distribution of raw materials from the another region which also faltered.
For example, the transportation of fresh fruit and meat from Central Java, currently takes up to four days. Though, it usually takes only a half day. “Whereas within five days, the fresh raw materials will rot in about 50 percent” he said.
It hasn’t counted yet the losses because the factory could not be operated due to workers who could not get in because of flooding, or because there is no electricity supply due to outages by PLN in some areas.

Despite the losses is in sight, according to Adhi, manufacturers of foods and beverages will not raise their selling prices. Because this problem is only temporary.

"I think Indonesia especially Jakarta floods should always have to think of alternative ways to reduce the losses of the merchants. Semisalnya have tools that can be used to accelerate the delivery of flood or other production. Insurance that provides comfort to open up business opportunities in Jakarta."

Women Entrepreneurs Tend to Be More Professional

Women entrepreneurs have shown their movement in the economic development of Indonesia. The minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Sharif Hasan told a group of women entrepreneurs are proactive in improving the welfare at least in their family.
“Women Entrepreneurs is a group of active women who have dared to take the initiative in economic development in order to improve the welfare of the family,” said Sharif at the Young Entrepreneur and Independent Young Technopreneur 2014 in Senayan, Wednesday ( 15/01/2014 ).
Moreover, Sharif said that women entrepreneurs tend to be more professional. “Women entrepreneurs are more responsible and professional in managing finances,” he said .
Sharif said the government and banks have supported women entrepreneurs by providing financing access. Such access is expected to provide an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to develop their business.
“In 2013 the business credit (KUR) has exceeded U.S. $ 137 billion to 10 million borrowers. All financial access has been implemented” said Sharif.

"In my opinion, it taka sing again a woman to be an entrepreneur or work. It was done in all to help supplement the family income as well as a force not to be demeaned women. And women can divide his time between work and home that all the makes women become more professional and capable of dividing time."

Ekspor ke Tiongkok Melonjak, Neraca Perdagangan RI Surplus

Jakarta -Neraca perdagangan Maret 2014 mengalami surplus US$ 673,2 juta. Ekspor tercatat US$ 15,21 miliar, lebih besar dibandingkan impor yang US$ 14,54 miliar.

Sementara akumulasi Januari-Maret 2014, neraca perdagangan juga surplus US$ 1,07 miliar, dengan ekspor US$ 44,32 miliar dan impor US$ 43,25 miliar.

Nilai ekspor Maret tumbuh 3,95% dibandingkan Februari. Komponen migas turun 3,24%, dari US$ 2,73 miliar menjadi US$ 2,64 miliar. Sementara non migas naik 5,59% dari US$ 11,9 miliar menjadi US$ 12,57 miliar.

Namun secara kumulatif, ekspor masih melambat 2,42% secara year on year(yoy).

Ekspor non migas masih didominasi oleh bahan bakar mineral sebesar US$ 5,63 miliar dan lemak serta minyak hewan/nabati US$ 5,29 miliar. Pangsa ekspor non migas pun masih didominasi negara-negara tradisional. Seperti Tiongkok US$ 4,93 miliar, Amerika Serikat US$ 3,83 miliar, Jepang US$ 3,57 miliar, ASEAN US$ 7,08 miliar, dan Uni Eropa US$ 4,16 miliar.

Sementara nilai impor Maret tumbuh 5,42% dibandingkan Februari. Komponen migas naik 15,83% dari US$ 3,46 menjadi US$ 4,01 miliar. Non migas naik 1,94% dari US$ 10,33 miliar menjadi US$ 10,53 miliar.

Impor juga masih datang dari negara-negara tradisional. Di antaranya adalah Tiongkok US$ 7,15 miliar, Jepang US$ 4,23 miliar, Singapura US$ 2,48 miliar, ASEAN US$ 7,24 miliar, dan Uni Eropa US$ 3,17 miliar.

Jakarta -Impor non migas pada Maret 2014 tercatat US$ 10,53 miliar, naik 1,94% dibandingkan Februari yang sebesar US$ 10,33 miliar.

Sementara impor kelompok bahan baku/penolong mengalami kenaikan 6,25% dari US$ 10,5 miliar menjadi US$ 11,2 miliar. Sedangkan impor barang modal justru turun 4,11% dari US$ 2,3 miliar menjadi US$ 2,2 miliar.

Produksi Tekstil RI Turun Gara-gara Serbuan Barang Impor
